I snapped these glorious ladies on Christ’s Piece in Cambridge in July 2010. A large field of sunflowers planted in the centre of the park. I remember it took quite a while to get a good shot because there were so many other people walking around taking photos. I haven’t seen any this year though, shame because they’re so vibrant and happy! I just wanted to add a pair of sunglasses and a smiley face to this one!

beauties. You know, so many of us are choosing sunflowers for this challenge. Seeing that, I’m making a commitment to plant some every year forever. As a reminder of how connected we are across this planet.

So what is it about sunflowers that people like? For me it’s the size of them, not really flowers and yet not big enough to be trees, I like to think sunflowers desire to be big like trees, each one looking around and pushing with all their might to grow big and strong.

For me, it’s their strength and colour and I love how the bees get so drunk feasting on them that they can’t fly! but that’s just my warped sense of humour.

Lovely! There is a farmer a west of where I live that plants acres upon acres of sunflowers. I suspect he is mainly interested in harvesting and producing oil, but his fields are gorgeous!

That’s cool! Some farmers near where I live plant rapeseed for the same reason and for a few weeks early summer the fields are alive with endless seas of yellow.

Dave you beat me to it! I took some amazing pics of sunflowers in France. They had fields upon fields of these amazing flowers.

Sorry! But do show them off. I’m not really that into flowers but sunflowers are cool, especially in abundance.
